  (677) The reader may have noticed the use of the term “Earth time”.  This is a deliberate usage, in an attempt to be faithful to messengers’ writings.  The messengers also speak of a “new” time  (IGL  421:21) and of a different time in another world: “Righteous spirits of Earth, time is our inscribed.  On Earth, she is so short.  In this world, she is inscribed to sing forever. “ (IGL 230: 20-23)  See also 332:18-19 written in PR/P 220

Chapter 2 We Believe in One Triune God (continued) 11/12

Part 9 The Holy Spirit the Third Person of the Trinity
                                                                                                   (continued)
Section 13 Spirit of Earth Time

214          According to tradition, King Solomon spoke about Lady Wisdom in the book of Wisdom. Probably no one had ever written about the spirit of wisdom in such a manner before, and indeed, no one has really written about the spirit of wisdom in the same depth and manner since the books of Wisdom and Proverbs.

215           In a similar fashion, the messengers speak about time in a manner that is different from how we normally talk about time.  Often, we may say that God transcends time, or is outside of time, or is the master of time, but to my knowledge, rarely (if ever) do we write about time itself as a creation of God and a servant of God.  (Sometimes we do write about “the fullness of time” or “the end of time”.  Just as “fullness of life” and “end of life” do not actually discuss the essence of life; neither do “the end of time” or the “fullness of time” actually discuss essence of time.)  If we treated time with the language of a created spirit of God, I believe the following statements would be in line with what we as a Catholic Church would profess about time: 1) Time is a creation of God. 2) God created all that is visible and invisible.  3) Time has its cause in the uncaused cause called God. 4) God is also the master of time. 5) Conversely, time is an obedient servant of God. As Solomon is at home with speaking about Lady Wisdom, it has been mentioned that, likewise, the messengers are quite at home with speaking about the “spirit of Earth time.”(676)     As a spirit, Earth time(677)   has its origin in the spirit of spirits, the Holy Spirit.

216           The messengers state that “God has made time,”(678)  “she comes from God,”(679)  “she is His (God’s).”(680)   Time is real.(681)    They proclaim that time is blessed: “You are a blessed spirit who has done well.”(682)   They explain that time is sent from God as a gift: “She is a gift from God…. Her spirit is a gift sent by God.”(683)   “Time is such a pleasant spirit. So very inspiring is her nature.  God’s Spirit set her on the Earth and spoke of her as sacred.”(684)

217           Time is obedient to God: “Time has done well.  She has served God in such inspiration.  She has served righteously.  God is pleased with her serving on Earth”(685)   “She accepts God’s instructions, and she does not fret.  This is a lesson well taught.  Remember time.”(686)   Because it is noted that time is obedient to God and does God’s will, in line with the messengers’ treatment of sainthood, they say that “Time is a passing saint.  She goes on and cannot wait.”(687)

218           What is time’s mission or purpose?  The messengers write that “God has instructed  “time” to care for Earthkind.”(688)   She “keeps things separated and in order,”(689)  and “Her spirit moves things…. In her moving, Earth people, respect the time you spend on the Earth.”(690)   Looking back at time, they state that “Her mission was on Earth.  She gave movement to all life on the Earth.”(691)   Finally, they write that another duty of time is that “Time has kept you here.”(692)   Indeed, they state that “Time was a most needed spirit.”(693)   “In such confusion is man without her.”(694)   “What would mankind do without her?”(695)

219           The spirit of time is not only obedient to God, but also loves us and our planet,  for the messengers write, “Time sings a love song to Earth.  She is so true to the people of Earth”(696)  because “Her heart is filled with love for mankind.”(697)   ”She has been good to Earth beings.  She never judged anyone.  She treated all souls equal, be he saint or sinner.”(698)  “She has served you well….She is a dear, silent friend.  On the Earth, she has done this service very well.”(699)   “In such need is man who takes time for granted.”(700)

220           The messengers have the following seven reflections on the spirit of time.  First, this spirit loves people so much, but “has never been thanked.”(701)   Second, “Time served well.   She took every insult, every complaint, every wish that she could give more of herself.  She never desired recognition nor seasons that were perfect. She moved along and took things as they came.  God is her guide.”(702)   Third, “O time, you were an Earth child, spirit of Earth in such virtue.”(703)   Fourth, “God measures the length of your journey.  In His spirit, many blessings reach Earth.  In time, night and day are measured.  In time, beginning and end become so short.  Start, and you are done.”(704)  Fifth, the Earth, “came and went in a measurement called time.”(705)   Finally, the sixth and seventh points pertain to our life and our salvation: sixth, “In time, you were born.  This is your time on the Earth.”(706)   Seventh, “Those of you who are praising God in time are praising Him for eternity.”(707)

Section 14 Actions of the Holy Spirit

221           In this presentation on the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, it has been written how the Holy Spirit is awesome and is the source of life, compassion, gentleness, joy, peace, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and right reason.  It has also been written how spirits are a part of the Holy Spirit, such as the spirits of truth, righteousness, good example, good desires, gladness, inspiration, music, beauty, hope, light, Earth, and the four spirits that received a large amount of writing: the spirits of kindness, wisdom, virtue and Earth time.  In this presentation, many actions of the Holy Spirit are mentioned or alluded to.  There are some places in the text where the messengers just write that the Holy Spirit does a certain action.  There will be some natural overlap with the previous sections, for we are dealing with the same Holy Spirit.

222           God’s Spirit is sent forth: “God sends His Spirit out in such love and mercy.”(708)   God’s Spirit has many gifts to give.  First, He teaches: “His Spirit teaches such blessed things.”(709)   Second, like any good teacher He inspires: “God’s Spirit inspires you so sweetly.”(710)   Jesus also said that the Holy Spirit would teach.(711)   Third,  He refreshes, as they state that the Spirit is “refreshing waters to the spirits of saints.”(712)  Forth, the Spirit gives us clothes: “Rise up, put on clothes of splendor sent from God’s Spirit.”(713)   Maybe these clothes of splendor are the “robe of the spirit of kindness”(714)  or maybe they are the “clothes of the spirit of virtue.”(715)   Maybe they are both.  Maybe they are something different.

223           The Holy Spirit is really the spiritual instrument of God for our holiness: “Sweet vessels (people) filled with the Holy Spirit.”(716)  They also state that we should “take God’s Spirit.  Let it fill your every desire.  Let it seal your ways with perfect simplicity.”(717)   The Holy Spirit’s touch affects our soul: “Real is this inspirational music in each saint.  Kind and gentle is the Spirit of God in your spirit.  Very restful is the song of life in such beauty.  The Holy Spirit bathes your soul with soft light and fragrant flowers.”(718)   The Holy Spirit is the “inscriber of souls of those who call on (Him)”(719)

224           The Holy Spirit is the healer of the sick.(720)   The Holy Spirit often performs actions of comfort and healing of all sorts for those who ask: “It is in this spirit, pain is relieved and sorrow is made lighter.  Families are brought together and healed, and signs of life enter your spirit.”(721)   They also write, “The Holy Spirit comes and never deserts the hearts of those who cry out in such pain.  In this spirit is the spring of life.  Wisdom spreads her wings of silver.  She comes and sings such words of comfort.”(722)

225           They state that the Holy Spirit is the “keeper of all that is sacred and holy.”(723)   Then with this in mind, it makes sense why the Holy Spirit is so intimately connected to the Saints/children of God.  “This is God’s very Spirit who sings in the spirit of the Saints.  In such quietness, sings so gently in such inspirational music.  God’s Spirit in the souls of the saints.”(724)   The Holy Spirit brings the saints into union: “Earth children who reach with such love, each one in unity with the Holy Spirit forever.”(725)

226           This idea of the Holy Spirit bringing a union to the Saints and binding them together is presented in the Catechism: the “outpouring of the Holy Spirit will ‘gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.’"(726)   It is also wonderfully expressed in the Catechism by the quote from Cyril of Alexandria, “All of us who have received one and the same Spirit, that is, the Holy Spirit, are in a sense blended together with one another and with God. For if Christ, together with the Father's and his own Spirit, comes to dwell in each of us, though we are many, still the Spirit is one and undivided. He binds together the spirits of each and every one of us, . . . and makes all appear as one in him. For just as the power of Christ's sacred flesh unites those in whom it dwells into one body, I think that in the same way the one and undivided Spirit of God, who dwells in all, leads all into spiritual unity.”(727)

227           We can almost hear the messengers echo the same refrain when they write, “In God’s Spirit, the children of God are one.  In God’s Spirit, united in a common bond”(728)   This common bond is spoken of as making one vessel: “Each blessed spirit of God in all God’s making is one vessel in God’s Spirit.”(729)   Saints are unified with the Holy Spirit, and with the Holy Spirit have a common bond and act as one vessel.   More presentation of the Communion of Saints may be found in Chapter 6, but for this Chapter, suffice it to say that one of the actions of the Holy Spirit is that it binds the Saints together.

228           This Spirit who is the keeper of all things sacred and holy and binds them together will naturally be the force that raises saints to God.  This is seen in the following messengers’ statements: “This is God’s Spirit calling all men to Himself.”(730)  “Very spirit of God reaches you while you wait.  Spirit of such beauty raises your spirit in such beauty on Earth as it is in Heaven.”(731)   Finally, they proclaim that the Holy Spirit is the “taker of blessed spirits who stay in God’s love.”(732)
